10 WAYS TO GET REHIRED AS AN INFLUENCER & INCREASE YOUR INCOME

1. LET US EMAIL YOU:

Communication through DM’s is not always ideal, and it’s easy for important messages to be lost in the shuffle. Email is the most effective way for companies to communicate about gifting, brand deals, and partnerships. By adding your email to your website and to the bio of your socials, it makes reaching out to you that much easier and increases the opportunities you’ll actually see.

2. TIMELY COMMUNICATION IS KEY:

Taking a while to respond to emails not only decreases your chances of getting hired for the proposed project in question (as a few days often gives us time to find someone else), but it also shows us what your communication style is like and whether or not you seem reliable to work with in the future. Set aside time each day to review your emails and respond to important ones!

3. ATTACH A MEDIA KIT

First of all, what is a media kit? Think of a media kit like a resume or business card - it’s a digital document containing important information about you and your platform. It should highlight your personality and tone of voice, numbers and statistics, the demographics of your audience, brands you’ve worked with in the past, etc. This allows us to pair you with projects that make sense, now and in the future. (Look online for some free media kit templates, or create your own using a software like Canva!). It also allows you to tell us the type of projects you want to go for.

4. SQUARE AWAY NECESSARY PAPERWORK:

Admittedly not the most exciting part of your job, having a W-9 and other necessary paperwork filled out and ready to send will save you a ton of back-and-forth, as companies need these documents for tax purposes (if they plan to pay you more than $600). Saving these files with your legal name and handle in the title will also make your documents easier for us to track and locate (For example: AnetteNilsen_KieloDigitalW9). Not to mention, this shows us that you know what you’re doing and are easy to work with!

5. READ THE BRIEF

We cannot stress this enough! Focus on the project brief at hand and make sure you have a comprehensive understanding of what your task is. Don’t be afraid to ask questions if goals or instructions aren’t clear! Brands are interested in your unique creativity, point of view, and audience, so it’s important that you can deliver your best. Plus, asking questions shows brands you care about the projects they’re hiring you for, and clarifying instructions may spare you the work of doing any potential reshoots.

However, remember you are being paid to deliver. So, to increase your chances of being rehired, make it a positive experience working with you, providing what is asked and delivering it on time.

6. DON’T JUST HIT PUBLISH:

Save yourself the heartache, send through your drafts before posting! This can help your client to ensure you are indeed following the brief. Using the right hashtags and URLs and following their brand guidelines cuts out the extra edits of your work. When dealing with brand collaborations (E.g. ClassTag is having a giveaway with Clorox), it is important to be able to send your content to the client (ClassTag) and their client (Clorox), keeping everyone happy and saving you time from revising your content unnecessarily.

7. CONFIRM PUBLISHING:

It’s easy to assume that the brand/agency you’re communicating with has access to the social media channels and sees the notifications. However, often we need to send links of your posts to our client, internal teams or even another agency partner who runs the client’s ads and channels. It’s best to help us make you look good by sending a note with the links to your posts once they’re live, so we can confirm to clients/bosses that it has gone LIVE!

8. WANT TO MAKE MORE MONEY?

Make sure your social media channels are business accounts. Setting up a Facebook business manager where you connect your Facebook and/or Instagram pages will open up whitelisting. This offers the brand partner access to your audience metrics & account to boost posts. Not only will this increase your organic growth, you can capitalize from this feature. Your audience metrics can be used as an opportunity to earn additional income (dependent on your audience size) from brands who want to use your posts as ads. Do this, and earn more without any “extra” work.

9. SHOW YOUR WORTH WITH STATS:

Any influencer campaign will have specific key performance indicators, such as impressions, engagements, or clicks to the brand’s site. Therefore, we have to report on every single piece that is posted. This is to measure and show our team/clients how our campaign is performing - if it performs well, we likely get more cash to rehire you in the future! The easiest way to do this will be to send screenshots of your stats (or insights) after 24 hours of your posts being live. NOW, we can pull the stats we need from them and prove the ROI of hiring you to our clients/bosses. So prove your worth and check those numbers!

10. PROPER INVOICING

GET THAT MONEY! Based on the contract’s terms, check what information the contract requests for your invoice to have. Then, send a proper invoice, with the way you wish to be paid clearly outlined (PayPal is easy to use for this!). Make paying you easy for us, so we’ll get you that hard earned money sooner RATHER than later.
